HP R5000 (3U) and R7000 (4U) rack UPS: HP high-efficiency hybrid "Minimally Switched" technology, HP UPS Network Module included, load segments and runtime extendable with up to 4 ERM modules.
HP R5000 / R7000 UPS
What are they used for?
HP "Minimally Switched" hybrid technology works as a very high-efficiency line-interactive UPS (about 94%) while the mains is good and automatically corrects voltage variations; when the power fails, the batteries take over. It suits server racks that need to limit power consumption and heat.
Key features of the range
- Technology: HP hybrid (line-interactive "Minimally Switched")
- Form factor: 19" rack
- LCD status display
- USB port for automatic server shutdown (HPE Power Protector software)
- Network / SNMP card slot
- Runtime extendable with ERM module
- Automatic voltage regulation (AVR)

Choosing the right UPS
- Add up the power in watts (W) of the equipment to protect and keep a margin of about 30%: the UPS should not run permanently above 70 to 80% of its rating.
- Check the number and type of outlets (IEC C13, C19, Schuko, terminal block) against your equipment's power cords.
- For longer runtime, choose a model with extendable runtime or an ER version to connect to battery cabinets.
- For automatic and clean shutdown of your servers, use the USB/RS232 port or a network card in the communication slot.
Replacement batteries
UPS batteries wear out even when there are few power cuts: they should be replaced on average every 3 to 5 years. You will find the replacement battery kits for this range in the « HP UPS batteries » section, sorted by generation and with the HP spare battery part number.
